It’s turning out to be a hot political season. Here at the Woodlawn Cemetery, we feel that understanding history is vital to fully participating in our elected government. Many who rest at Woodlawn have been activists and leaders at the forefront of civil rights.Women political leaders from both parties vigorously participated in the recent presidential primaries.Many are also legislators, at all levels of US government.

At Woodlawn Cemetery, we take seriously the legacy of music. Many musical personalities lay at rest within our grounds, and we work continuously to understand their enduring impact. Even after these legends have left us, their work and messages unfold across the years. One such voice is that of Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso, aka, Celia Cruz(1925-2003).

In this busy world, it’s really hard for you as a woman to take time to perform the self-care necessary in one’s life. Here are some tips that will help you get a grip on increasing health, reducing stress, and gaining for yourself and for your loved ones better quality of life. This isn’t as simple as eating less.

Depression and anxiety is a challenge for everyone. Women are particularly vulnerable to depression, and clinical depression can be triggered by a variety of causes. Depression shouldn’t be a source of shame or fear, and it can be managed and overcome. Everyone, even people with otherwise ordinary lives, may have to deal with various kinds of depression over their lives, and it can be dealt with in a proactive, healthy manner.

It’s hard to stay on top of getting the recommended daily allowance of vitamins as part of nutrition in our hectic lives. Further, we’re constantly bombarded with products that contain specious claims as to efficacy of vitamins. Women have different needs from men as well. Here are some good sense guidelines to stay on top of your vitamin needs in a reasonable, sensible manner.

For any business, especially within large organizations, moving can be stressful. In addition to the usual disruption of normal business functions that will occur with the move, things will go wrong and issues will arise that won’t be accounted for. However, with empathy, intelligence and good planning, these impacts can be prepared for and the move can be a smooth experience.

Our offices are the places where we spend at least 8 hours a day, often times a lot more. Whether you have pods, desks or cubicles, it’s vitally important to have available a comfortable, productive space. If you’re moving your office, you have an opportunity to engage in a conversation about office design with both management and your staff.

Nine months ago, I wrote an article on schema and SEO. Therein, I talked about how filling out of metadata made for a better user experience and could assist in SEO. Even though Google has denied up until now that schema would be used as a ranking factor, now they seem to be revealing that structured data will indeed contribute to rank in search engine results in the future.

I’m sure that if you’re a creative, you get hit up for free work all the time. “You’ll get exposure! You’ll get content out there!”. These are all true. But my boss at Didit tells me, “never work for free.”. On the other hand, there are some other hand, there are some other people who need to be made to pay, but can’t.

September 4, 2014: Yandex and Baidu are the two leading non-US search engines. Together they account for 11% of all search engine traffic. Yandex is the leading search engine in the former Eastern Bloc, while Baidu is the number one search engine in China. Baidu accounts for 63% of all search traffic in China while Yandex accounts for 60% of all search traffic in Russia — two of the world’s fastest growing online markets.

No matter the pros and cons of Baidu, it still is important for Westerners – especially anyone involved with SEO – to pay close attention to. As Chris Bell notes on Didit, “as demographics shift immigrants will increasingly bring their searching habits with them.” He also shares a 2011 study that found that “80% of English language searches in Baidu are directed back to Bing. Being that 5% of all searches on Baidu are in English, and being that China has 513 million Internet uses, even a small slice of this business is important to Bing.”
